Materials Bic Pen - the white inexpensive kind Red Liner double stick tape - a 6" x 9" sheet makes 4 pens a 9" x 11" sheet makes 8 pens a 1¼" x 5 yd roll makes 18 pens Tiny (1.5mm) glass beads (no holes) - 1 oz. makes approx. 3 pens 9" x 12" foil sheet - 1 sheet makes about 9 pens
1. Cut two strips of tape 1¼" x 5". Measure and mark the white side of the tape sheet. Keep the two release sheets on the tape while marking and cutting. 2. Peel off the white release sheet of one strip and lay the tape sticky side up on the table. Lay the white pen barrel at the edge of the long side of the tape. Roll the tape around the barrel until just before it touches the beginning edge. Peel off the red plastic liner of the beginning edge and complete wrapping the tape around the barrel, overlapping a little to completely cover. 3. Have the foil sheet flat on the table with the color side down. Hold the pen by the tip and peel off all the release sheet. Lay the pen on the foil and wrap it around the pen. Press and rub the foil against the pen until the color covers the tape. Reapply a fresh area of foil over any missed spots on the pen. 4. Wrap the pen with the second strip of tape as in step 2. Take off the release sheet and lay in a shallow flat pan of beads. Press and roll the pen in the beads until no more beads will fit on. Gently flick off any loose beads and let the pen rest for 24 hours so the adhesive will fully activate.
NOTE: Play with several color combinations contrasting foils and
beads. |
